still chasing shadows

Have I ever mentioned how much I wish I had the time to blog more? I think I’ve mentioned it a time or two…hundred. Now I have a new obstacle..to take the pretty shadowy location pics, I have to be plugged directly into my modem..I just can’t seem to get a strong enough connection via my router. I can still do the white background without a problem. I’d say out of about twenty or so pics taken outside of the beautiful Milk Motion main store, only 2 turned out somewhat decent..meaning with no weird lines or flaws.(see photo below)

That wouldn’t be a huge problem for a lot of people, but in my house there are these 2 really short people who love to play on the computers and they go cuckoo when they can’t get on youtube or disney.com. I find it best to just keep the peace.

The scarf in this picture is one of the many amazing group gifts at [whatever]. There is a 300 L$ fee to join, but it’s more than worth all of the group gifts you receive. Strawberry Singh has very simple directions on how to download them and add them to your sky settings, here. You’ll also see that she has some of her own wl settings available to download, plus a list of links to some of her favorite ones.

…bring out the gimp

Wow, time flies. I can’t believe it’s already been 30 days since starting my photoshop CS6 trial. When I opened it to edit this post it told me it would be the last use unless i wanted to purchase it for a gazillion dollars. So i minimized it and I plan on never turning off or restarting my computer again, lol. I’m sure that plan won’t work so I did download GIMP for this computer. I have an older version of ps on my old mac so if I can’t get used to GIMP I’m going to be computer hopping again. GIMP. What a name for a program. Isn’t that slang for a  person with missing limbs or something like that? (please if you have missing limbs don’t think I’m making fun or anything). And if my memory serves me correctly, wasn’t that what they called the leather-masked somdomizer in Pulp Fiction? I just think it’s an odd name and I’m mourning the loss of my trial so this is all crazy talk anyway. :p

At least I still can play with shadows in sl, knock on wood.

boho bliss

I finally got to go shopping at Maitreya since they’ve released all of their new mesh items. I was blown away, as I’m sure most of you were, by how beautiful and well made every piece was.

The above boots were one of my Maitreya must-haves, and I think if I’m not careful, a certain someone could cause me death or bodily harm to get their hands on these.

lipstick

It was love at first sight for me when I tried on The Lady Swing Skirt from The Secret Store.  Designer Maylee Oh says that she was inspired by 50′s fashion to create these long, lovely mesh skirts. Skirts include an optional fabric rose belt and are available in 7 beautiful versions. (optional belt and all skirt versions can be viewed here)

I went on a hunt for the perfect pair of earrings for this ensemble, and on my favorite hunting grounds…marketplace sl. I saw the black and white stripes on these earrings and thought they would look really cool with the skirt. The price was decent so I clicked “add to cart” and the product info came up. Well let me tell you..these are more than just your average earrings.

Created by Maxi Gossamer they are 100% mesh and scripted to open a menu when touched. From that menu you can choose from 12 different textures, or resize them. August Gifts

TokiD‘s August gift is out! The new Mari shirt. Turquoise and polkadot and adorable the gift includes  6 sizes of tops to choose from. I would normally wear the xs but I wore the small because I didn’t want the prim from the shorts to poke through. I was really impressed by the fit of this top. Being a small chested avi I’ve had to make my boobies bigger for a few mesh tops but I didn’t have to change my shape at all for this shirt..and I couldn’t look down my shirt and see invisible boobs..just a nice, perfect fit.

A peek from behind. The silky back strap is a nice surprise when you turn around and always gets a couple of oohs and ahs. I also love the pretty ribbon in the back of the [e]likatira hair, Changes, that I’m wearing in this post.

The skin in the pics above is Filthy skin’s August group gift. (also some really cool lipgloss makeup tats..be sure and grab those too while you’re there!)  There is a group fee but I thought this was a really cute skin so I didn’t mind paying it. Plus I have been dying to try on some new skins. I’ve acquired a few demos that I’ve been looking forward to trying on..

The 80′s Heels are another find from HOC Industries @ The Vintage Fair. Above, is the picture of the HUD that you wear to change the shoes and socks colors. I’m excited about these shoes..I keep thinking of outfits that they would look so adorable with..and the combinations are endless!

the platinum hunt

Some awesome things going on right now…first and foremost The Platinum Hunt kicks off today.  This is the hunt that you have to pay 10 L$ for each gift, but let me tell you, the items are so high quality it is well worth it..i mean what is that…50cents? :p

The Indie Rose gift is one of my favorites (worn in this post). I love the cut of the dress ..it has a vintage look to it. You can’t help but feel feminine and sexy in it. 
I was tickled to death to receive the Lelutka group gift, Hadley..I was soo excited that she didn’t have green or purple eyeshadow too lol…nice soft neutral wearable tones. I just saw this skin for the first time the other day and made a mental note to try it on soon…it had such a unique look..and younger looking than most Lelutka skins imho.

I’ve had my eye on the Connors Pareo sets since they first started showing up in the feeds, and I was finally able to get one. The tank and panties come with the sarong-the one I chose is called Hibiscus..but they could pass for poppies..maybe? :p
Have you been to Connor’s lately? Not too very long ago I went in and was really blown away by how far they had come since I first went there (a year or more ago). Don’t get me wrong, it was nice back then but everything just looked extra high quality this time

While you’re there rez a bike and ride around their roomy store (bicycle rezzer by the front entrance). Don’t forget to join the group and pick up the group gifts in the front. They also have a lucky board on each side of the store (men’s and womens sides)..the men’s gift is unisex.
